Flower shows were in my peripheral vision when the flower business first crossed my path in 1991.I enrolled in local floral associations and the orchid society and travelled to Hawaii to check out the orchid import process--and to pick as many florists' brains as I could. Information comes easier to a stranger than on home-turf I found. And since then, whether it was in the Barbadoes, Thailand, Central America, one of the priorities on the travel-agenda was to check out the local floral scene.People I've met say they can see I'm in 'flower-withdrawal!"

WHAT'S ON IN 2012
GREAT BRITAIN
Manchester Cathedral is holding the first of what it intends to be an annual event. Held July 23-29,2012,some 100 floral interpretations will be exhibited, representing a piece of music from the Renaissance to the modern day, and in every musical genre.
SHOWS OF THE PAST FOR PRESENT IDEAS
CANADIAN rail will get you to 15 famous Canadian gardens and 28 communities chosen for their civic pride as demonstrated by their love of flowers.
GREAT BRITAIN Next to the flower show held April 1-3,2011 for Mothering Sunday, the flower show in Hampton Court (former home of Queen Mary II) palace, July 5-10 is not to be missed. This is a great site to check out other GB palace shows.
GREAT BRITAIN Considered one of the best in Britan,the
Shrewsbury Flower and Garden show is in August.
NEW ZEALAND Initiated as a fund-raising project by the Rotary Club in 1994, the show was held in Auckland for several years, locating to Ellerslie Flower Show Christchurch,NZ in 2009. Sadly the city experienced a devasting earthquake in 2010 a few days prior to the event.
UNITED STATES:CHICAGO Top US floral designers presented glamorous tablescapes at the 12th annual Chicago Flower Show March 11-19th.
UNITED STATES:CINCINNATI Held on Coney Island, master floral designers are represented in creating dramatic table settings and flower sugar art in the 'confections in bloom' at this annual Cincinnatti Flower Show sponsored by the Horitcultural Society in April.
UNITED STATES:SOUTHEASTERN FLOWER SHOW If the photos in the 'artistic division' are a reflection of the contemporary design preferences of the south, then Atlanta should be a great place to be in February.
UNITED STATES:PHILADELPHIA Watch out for the Legends of Ireland theme at the March show.
